The wedding ceremony was held at Asbury United Methodist Church in Columbia and the reception followed at Seawell’s. There was a quick dinner and then the party started and everyone had a blast. One of the many highlights of the evening was when Jonathan, his dad, and Mande’s dad got up on stage to sing “My Girl”.

The whole evening was great fun and the Tony Howard Band did a great job at keeping the party going… Honestly though, I think it would have kept going even if there was no music!! LOL

Congratulations guys, and we hope that your second reception back home is just as much fun as the one here.

If you are a follower of our blog you know that we post video clips quite frequently.  In fact we post clips from just about every project we work on and hope that it shows our consistency in providing the highest quality of wedding videos no matter the place or circumstances.  When we received her request we immediately understood the validity of it as there are many wedding video sites that shows their best of clips on the site but when you actually receive your full product from that company it will not be a representation of what you saw in their “demo clip”.

With that, we introduce the first COMPLETE  WEDDING VIDEO ever posted to our wedding video blog.  When we received the bride’s request mentioned above, we were in the middle of editing this particular video and I couldn’t help but feel that this wedding fit the bill perfectly for what she was asking. Let me explain why. 

We found out early on that the church in this video had some strict regulations but were relieved to find that the church coordinator allowed us a small amount of leeway that we initially thought we may not have.  Even with this leeway we still had prohibitive restrictions placed on us. No shooting from the ground level or altar/choir loft and any of the processional shots had to be from the very cramped foyer area.  With these restrictions in mind, Marianna and I came up with a camera placement and shooting plan and pulled it off with the utmost precision.

Because of these restrictions, it did prevent us from doing some things that we normally would like to do from an artistic standpoint.  However, even with the abscence of some of our “Best Of” shots you will still see that the quality of our work and beauty of the wedding shines brightly in the video.

In addition to their MAIN WEDDING MOVIE which is featured below, on the actual DVD they also received some documentary style clips of their ceremony showcasing the original music and reactions, a 10 minute montage of dancing and the band from the reception, and some clips of well wishes from their family and friends.

Matt and Lora’s ceremony was at 5:00pm and was followed by an exceptional reception at the Wyche Pavillion in the heart of downtown Greenville. Sam from Life of the Party Dj’s did an awesome job with keeping the party going until he was literally made to stop at 10:00 due to a city sound ordinance. Laura and Matt visited with guests for a few minutes after that and departed around 10:30PM in a vintage Chevrolet Bel Air convertible restored to pristine condition.

Congratulations, Matt and Lora and thanks again for trusting us with such an important task. We hope you have a great time on your honeymoon.

CLIFFS AT GLASSY MOUNTAIN WEDDING

Their wedding was followed by a great reception catered by Dupre’s at Sterling Hall on Canal Street. The Coconut Groove Band provided the music for the reception and they did a great job of keeping the party going until David and Kristy departed around 8:30.

All of the decorations and planning were done by Melanie Murphy with By Invitation Only, and you can hear about much of Melanie’s hard work for their wedding by reading her blog post about Kristy and Dave’s Wedding.

Their wedding was held at Wintergreen Woods in Lexington, SC and it was an absolutely beautiful day as you can see in the video.

Trevor and Jessica chose to see each other before the wedding and this segment showcases how we handled that for them.

The clip ends abruptly after Jessica’s entrance into the ceremony. Sorry that we couldn’t let it run longer but we have a few other segments that will be posted very shortly and we needed to conserve our bandwidth that is alloted to us for hosting our videos.

Their wedding reception was at the Florence Civic Center where Big Daddy and the Heavyweights kept the place rocking until their departure.

Florence wedding photographer Fred Salley provided wedding photography services for Katrina and Brian and we really enjoyed working with them throughout the day!

WHY IS THEIR PREVIEW A LITTLE LATER THAN NORMAL?

Brian and Katrina chose to have a post wedding inteview which gave them the opportunity to share in depth feelings about their special day. In the preview you will see that we used some of this audio and video to enhance their trailer and this footage will also be used to greatly enhance their wedding day movie.

Since they chose this option we spoke with them about holding off until after the interview before producing their trailer and this is the reason it is slightly delayed beyond our normal schedule.

Staci and Frank’s reception followed at the Francis Marion in downtown Charleston where one of our favorite bands, The Mighty Kicks, kept the party going into the evening.

The clip below is Staci and Frank’s wedding movie opener all they way through the vows at the ceremony. Staci and Frank chose to have their coverage time start at the beginning of the ceremony with no preperations filming. In this piece you can see how we still unraveled the story in a natural and unique way even though we were missing that important preperations piece of the story.

In our last post, Hope and Tripp’s wedding video ending segment, we showed our unique way of blending parts of the ceremony over the entire video in order to maximize interest and maintain the emotional value of each segment of the wedding day. In this segment you can see some more of our signature style blending techniques.

COMPARISON CLIP:

I also had Marianna cut a documentary version of the priest message.   The below clip is a straight documentary cut between all of the available cameras that we had at the wedding.  This clip is right at 7 minutes long and if you watch it you will immediately see that the priest point is all but lost because of the length of the message and overemphasis of some points. 

As you compare it to the version above (which his message was condensed to 2.5 minutes)  you will find that you dont miss anything but with the careful editing of the sermon his message is actually enhanced and more emotional.

Please realize that THE BELOW CLIP IS NOT OUR NORMAL STYLE.  This clip is provided for cross referencing with the clip above to showcase the drastic difference in what we do with our wedding videos.

This particular segment shows a few various techniques that we incorporate into our wedding movies.
The first is ceremony blending.  Let face it.. Most of the time wedding ceremony messages by the preacher are not the most entertaining things in the world. Being in the postion that we are (listening over and over to many messages) we have noticed that many of them carry a powerful meaning but it is often lost because of length or other distractions.  In our editing we always try to maximize the meaning and emotional value of EVERY segment of your wedding day.

One way that we do this is ceremony message and prayer blending.  We have found that if careful attention is given to each prayer and segment of the message by the preacher that often you can enhance the impact of the entire message.  While storyboarding (planning the assembly) for Hope and Tripp’s wedding movie I imediately identified two sections of the message that I felt would create a stellar ending to the movie, so I sectioned those off and saved them for the end.  As you watch this piece you can immediately see how the blending of music, spoken word and visuals creates a very emotional piece.  On the flipside, if we had shown these segments exactly how they happened it would not have been as interesting or impactful because these portions would have been lost in the middle of a 35 minute long wedding ceremony.

By blending these segements of each video we do, not only does it make those portions of the message stand out but it also allows us to trim the actual ceremony portion of the video down to something that maintains maximum emotional interest.  For instance, in documentary (as it happened) form,  Hope and Tripp’s wedding ceremony alone would have been 35 minutes.  With the various blending techniques we used we trimmed the ceremony portion to 6 minutes (Processional, brides entrance, a short message, vows, ring exchange and the kiss).  However, the entire 35 minute ceremony is still contained over the entire length of the video.
