Wisdom Beyond Their Years…

Posted by: jplayer on 22 Oct 09 | 6 Comments

I am sure that many people who visit our blog do not know this, but Marianna and I were married very young (19 years old!!). Since then, we have attended many weddings and we always make observations at each wedding we attend. One observation that has been fairly consistent (even when considering our very own wedding) is that in general, older couples are much more sentimental and fully aware of the importance of what is going on during a wedding.

Brittany and Thomas certainly fell into the young category but their wisdom about the importance of what was happening was certainly beyond their years.

Our interactions with Brittany and Thomas started last November through emails and phone calls and we only met them a few weeks before the wedding. We met up at the Fatz Cafe in Lexington, SC and had a great time just sitting and talking for a few hours. When we walked away, Marianna and I were blown away by their strong rooted and genuine love for each other.

When the wedding day came, we started talking to their friends and family and it was mind boggling to see and hear the number of people that expressed the same feelings that we had quickly noticed in our meeting a few weeks prior. From abundant reception toasts, talking with the family members, and even friends of theirs coming up and telling us how perfect they are for each other and what great people they are, everyone shared the same basic sentiment “THEY GOT IT”.

As I started putting their preview video together I knew that I wanted to show this and dove head first into their footage looking for things that I could use to accomplish my goal but immediately ran into a huge issue… There was so much content that matched what I needed, I honestly did not even know where to begin. I poked around some more and finally decided to go ahead and make the trailer longer and more complete than a typical preview video technically should be. Even though technically longer this length was needed to even begin to show the real theme of Brittany and Thomas’ wedding day… THEM.

Congratulations Brittany and Thomas!!!

OTHER WEDDING NOTES:

A Great Day With One Bad Surprise!!

Posted by: jplayer on 14 Oct 09 | 2 Comments

Creating the stories that we do with our wedding movies is no easy task and when we are finished filming the wedding day, our job has literally just begun. Because of the gargantuan amount of work in the edit, we have accumulated a backlog and as an attempt to efficiently work through that backlog we have been turning down a good bit of work for the remainder of this year and some for next year also. When Carina initially contacted us about her wedding, although very enthusiastic about our work, her request fell into this category and we referred her to some colleagues of ours.

A few weeks passed after her initial contact and Carina contacted us again. This time she again expressed her desire to have our quality/style of work and asked for us to please let her know if anything changes that would allow us to be able to film her wedding.

Carina’s enthusiasm wore off on us, and after talking, Marianna and I worked it out to film her and Jeff’s wedding.

Fast forward a few months to the wedding day.

Marianna and I are really excited to meet Carina and Jeff. We load up the car and head off towards York early enough to arrive a few hours early just like we always do (BTW York is close to Charlotte, NC and is about an hour and a half from our house) . About 15 miles into our trip I go to pass a slower truck and halfway around the truck I look in the rear view mirror to see smoke billowing out from our car. NOT GOOD!!

I immediately shut the engine down, pull over to investigate, and as soon as I get out the car, I notice there was oil all over the sides, back, and every other body panel of the car. I pop the hood to check things out and oil is also everywhere under the hood . I check the dipstick and find that there is NO oil in the motor, OH THIS IS REALLY NOT GOOD. Although having an hour or two buffer we still wanted to get on the road again as quickly as possible so this forced me into work/think quick mode.

I call our neighbor; luckily she is home and able to come pick us up and take us home where we jumped in our other car and we’re back on the road again.

We went back to our car, transferred all of our equipment, and were again on our way to the church. I drove as fast as I could without getting in a ton of trouble and Marianna was working on the phone to make arrangements for a tow truck to pick up our other car, and we finally arrived literally five minutes before our contracted start time. We went in and met Carina and Jeff and the rest of the day was great!!

Carina and Jeff were just as fun and enthusiastic as we had envisioned and we could tell that they poured many personal items into the wedding, and it is always cool to see things like that.

We also really enjoyed the opportunity to work with Carina’s wedding day photographer, Caroline Ghettes.  She and her husband, Alin were awesome and so down to earth but on the flip side they do great work. Please make sure to check some of Carina and Jeff’s wedding day photographs that Caroline took at the wedding. Caroline also has a letter posted that Carina sent her about her and Jeff’s love story, so make sure to read that as it’s really cool.

Congratulations Carina & Jeff,
James and Marianna

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CAR??
We had taken it to get the oil changed 2 days before and had not driven it much. The place that changed the oil had not screwed the oil filter on properly and when it loosened up it sprayed all of the oil out of the motor. Luckily with my quick reaction of cutting the car off and pulling over it saved the motor and the car is fine.
I had honestly given up on changing my own oil a while back but after this experience I think its something that I will be doing from now on!! LOL

Lauren and Jason’s Wedding Trailer

Posted by: James Player on 02 Aug 09 | 9 Comments

Lauren Moore and Jason Cone were married on 06.20.2009 at the the Chapel located on the complex of First Baptist of Lexington.

Their wedding was followed by a great reception at the Pine Island Country Club.

Congratulations Lauren and Jason!!

Lauren and Jason also chose to do our Post Wedding Interview option. This option ALWAYS adds greatly to the movie content and I know without a shadow of a doubt that it will for Lauren and Jason also. In fact, the first segment where Jason is talking in the trailer came straight from this session.

We were also lucky to have worked with Lauren and Jason before the wedding day. Brantley and Richard Freeman with All Dressed up Photography were Lauren and Jason’s wedding day photographers, and late last year they decided to have a promotional video made of their photography business. They contacted us to produce that video for them and a part of the process involved filming them working. One of the sessions we filmed was Lauren and Jason’s engagement photo session. I snuck a few snippets from that in the trailer also but if you would like to see more from that session check out the promotional video we created by CLICKING HERE.

The garter and also an imprinted insert in Laurens dress was actually made from material from the dress Lauren wore on their first date!! VERY UNIQUE AND COOL!!

Ella and Matt’s Wedding Trailer

Posted by: James Player on 15 Dec 08 | 9 Comments

We have been very fortunate to have nearly perfect weather for every wedding we have done this year. There have been threats of rain and of course hot hot hot days; but we fortunately have never had solid rain on a wedding day.

Well, on November 29th that changed.  Ella Nixon and Matt Firtko’s wedding was scheduled to be held out in the front drive at The Millstone at Adams Pond in Columbia, SC. We monitored the weather all week long and it started to not look good early on in the week but we continued to hope for the best. Despite our hopes it rained all day long.

When we arrived at the Millstone we were happy to see everyone in good spirits and that the rain didn’t put a damper on any of the activities. As the day continued, Robin Cannon, the wedding planner, made all necessary adjustments to the plans which initially included outdoor activities and everything went off without a hitch for what turned out to be a beautiful wedding.

Since it was raining, we knew that we had to do whatever we could to include the rain since this was a part of their day. We were also happy that our good friends Clark and Becki Berry of Clark Berry Photography were the still photographers for the day and we had a good time making the best of the situation.

Congratulations Ella and Matt!
